First CSA Pick Up of 2023
/Welcome to the 2023 Summer CSA Season! We are so excited to be kicking off the season! It was a long winter and we were thrilled to finally see the sun!
It was great meeting all the new CSA customers today and of course, seeing some long time customers! It always is a joy to see the faces of the folks enjoying our food!
This year we expanded our intern group so we have 8 interns aged 12-16 years old working this summer. They are completely in charge of the CSA bags each week. While our chief farm hand oversees the kiddos, there’s still a chance that they might not meet our normal standard of operation. So, bear with us as we teach the interns the proper way to wash, bundle and bag produce.
It’s been an interesting spring so far! With the warmer temps in May, our greens were ready to harvest about 2 weeks ago. So we are sort of in between crops. Of course, that has to occur right as CSA begin! LOL! But we still were able to provide some greens for you this week!
But the exciting news is our corn is already knee high so we anticipate harvesting it earlier than normal this year. With that said, these cooler temps have slowed everything down so honestly, who knows! But we feel like we are off to a good start! Other crops that are looking great are the tomatoes, zucchini and peppers!
This week’s bag has the following items:
Garlic Scapes
Radishes
Bag of salad greens
Onions
Kale/arugula mix
Eggs
Lamb or Pasta or Gluten Free Mix
Here are some ideas and recipes for you to try with your produce this week:
~Grilled Garlic Scapes or Garlic Scape Pesto (Our favorite!)
~Easy Pickled Radishes Roasted Radishes
~Buttered Radishes with Poached Eggs Radish Salad with eggs and creamy dressing
Thank you so much for joining our Farm Family this season! We are looking forward to a great season! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out! We are always happy to help!!
Have a great week!!
