2024 CSA Newsletter Week #3 Newsletter (Tuesday)

Welcome to Week #3 of the CSA program! It’s also Week #2 of the Meat Share program too! We are gonna load you up with some good food for the upcoming holiday weekend!

If you need a cute hostess gift or just a decoration for your kitchen, we have these adorable kitchen towels clearanced in the farm store for $4/each!

We are getting excited for a stretch of warmer weather! After the nice drenching rains we’ve had, it’s prime for all the tender crops to take off! They have just been sitting there waiting for some summer heat! The tomatoes, cucumbers and melons are absolutely covered in blossoms! The tomatoes in the greenhouse have good sized fruit but are still green. Farming is all about patience!

This week our team has mostly been focusing on maintenance tasks…lots of weeding, reseeding areas which didn’t germinate, thinning the baby apples on all the trees and planting 500 new strawberry plants!

What’s in your bags this week:

~Blueberries: Farmer Jon and I went to visit our friend Brandon who has an orchard and farm near Spokane. We brought back some tasty berries! Mmmmm!

~Green Beans: This recipe for green beans would be awesome with garlic scapes! Buttery Garlic Green Beans

~Zucchini: You could also toss some of this into the Green Bean recipe from above! But we also love fresh zucchini with some fresh made ranch dip!

~Garlic Scapes: This is probably your last week of these spring delights! Use them wisely!

~Spring Onions: So tasty and fresh!

~Lettuce and Baby Arugula: Freshly picked this morning by Hannah and Ceecee, our interns. Perfect for your 4th of July hamburgers!

~Radishes: Babies from our 2nd crop of radishes. Add a little touch of color to your holiday dishes!

~Herbs: Italian Flat-leafed parsley and chives!

We hope you enjoy this week’s harvest! Lots of ingredients for some delicious dishes!

Have a wonderful celebration of the 4th of July!

God Bless America!
